Stellera chamaejasme L. (Compositae) has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine for its anti-inflammatory properties. In the current study, we investigated the pharmacological profile of a standardised S. chamaejasme extract (SCI) on macrophages, its effects on paw edema in mice and rats, and its underlying mechanisms. Thioglycollate-elicited peritoneal macrophages were used to analyse in vitro the effects of SCI on the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines in response to lipopolysaccharide (LPS). In vivo, the anti-inflammatory effects of SCI and methotrexate (MTX), which was used as a positive control, were evaluated by measurement of ear edema caused by croton oil in mice, and rat paw edema caused by carrageenan or dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in rats. To explore the underlying mechanisms, we examined the production of nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE(2)) after stimulation with LPS. SCI attenuated the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines from macrophages. Topical treatment with SCI, but not with MTX, markedly inhibited edema in mouse and rat models. In addition, both SCI and MTX reduced the production of NO and PGE(2) induced by LPS. These results provide strong evidence that SCI can effectively reduce inflammation and may have a potential use as an anti-inflammatory drug.Hello everyone!! Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan) I’m so happy and blessed to be here with all of you today!! It has been a long while since the last time I wrote. I’ll be taking a short break for a while, please do look forward to my next blog post at the end of this month. Today I’m going to be taking a look at… Nendoroid Miku Kobayashi! From the popular anime series ‘Ro-Kyu-Bu!’ comes a Nendoroid of protagonist Miku Kobayashi dressed in the Ro-Kyu-Bu uniform she wore in the TV anime! She comes with three face What's New in the? NOVICE artist Willy Oatey has come on leaps and bounds since starting out as an artist. From exhibitions to publications, he is proving his talent and carving a niche for himself in the Australian art scene. Oatey has had two solo exhibitions to date, "Tide Pool" at Point Town gallery and "Lilac" at The Oceanic Gallery. His work was showcased at MAC, Quay and other galleries in Sydney and Melbourne. Willy said he felt exposed in the gallery, saying, "I had some good and some bad experiences, some really bad ones. The first [exhibition] was at The Oceanic Gallery and it was a little weird because it was very much a private gallery. So it was all very nice and I just felt at home. The gallery was full of great people and they just really took me under their wing and showed me really great things. But then, the second one I did [Lilac] was... it was really comfortable and I had these really amazing relationships to fall back on." Erick.baghdadi@starmediagroup.com.au Willy Oatey.Photo: Alan Cashman The experience he had at the Oceanic was definitely more challenging. "At The Oceanic, I was the youngest person there, the first year I went there I had a guy and then the next year I had a bunch. Both times I was the youngest person there and it was really difficult... it was really weird," he said. "The first time, I had my first official show there I had a bunch of guys who were friendly and really accepting... it was really cool, people would stand in front of my drawings that I was doing and when they left, they would write on my prints what they thought about it. It was really cool." Following the Oceanic exhibition, Willy also showcased his work in Mardi-Gras exhibitions in Melbourne and Sydney. "A lot of the Mardi-Gras people are kind of laid back and chill. I always do like the Mardi-Gras because you get to meet a lot of people, but Melbourne has this really cool group of people like people who have been in the Mardi-Gras for longer, so... a lot of people are really passionate about it and are not a part of the play, they are a part of the spectacle." My name is Richard Taylor and I'm a Lead Map Artist at Perculab. What are the challenges you and your team faced when creating In the Name of the King? As you can see from the video above, we had to build a game from scratch in a few weeks. This meant that most of the time was spent solving problems and not doing art. In
